Lately we are getting idyllic pictures of our small wind turbines in rural areas, surrounded by beautiful landscapes, animals and crops. We love these images and the feeling they transmit, and we do love that more and more families that live in rural places and care about the environment choose one of our small wind turbines.
These images correspond to a WINDSPOT small wind turbine which has just been installed in Denmark in the village of Blenstrup in a home surrounded by a field of apples. As you can see the photos are very recent, you can see the beautiful apple trees with new sooths and flowers of spring, which in summer will become delicious apples.

This is a WINDSPOT small wind turbine energy of 3.5 kW connected to the mains. It is installed on a 22 meters high tower, to take advantage of prevailing winds in the area, and a hydraulic system that makes maintenance easier. It has already provided its high productivity, the first day it produced 42 kWh, which has greatly pleased his new owner.

As you know WINDSPOT small wind turbines are certified in Denmark, certification obtained through the Danish National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy .

Denmark is a country where there is great interest and awareness of renewable energy. There, our distributor, LS Stoker, through its representative, Lars Sorensen, is doing a great job publicizing the benefits of our small wind turbine.

There are already several Windspots installed in this country, which is a real power of wind energy, and where the terrain, characterized by plains, makes it the ideal place to install a WINDSPOT small wind turbine.

About 4 months ago CIEMAT certified the power curve of 3.5 KW WINDSPOT small wind turbine. Now they have also certified its durability and the machine has been included in Class 1, that is, our domestic wind turbine supports the strongest winds and harshest conditions. WINDSPOT is the only wind turbine in its power range in the world to get Class 1.

In six months our small wind turbine has produced fantastic data in the testing field in Soria, where it has by far exceeded the requirements for certification. Thus, in the trial, the wind turbine has been exposed to winds above 18 m / s during 330 hours, though the test requires only 25 hours.

This test also checks the availability of the wind turbine, the absence of any operation faults. The result has been 100% satisfactory, the wind turbine has not failed at any time during rehearsals, though 90% of the operating time without failing is considered enough for the domestic wind turbine to be classified as safe.

Another part of the test consists of a measurement of the wind turbine power curve throughout the test to verify that it remains unchanged over time. During the six months while the machine was put to test the power performance at different wind speeds has been successfully verified.

These excellent results obtained in the trials at the CIEMAT in terms of durability, power and noise must now be sent to Intertek to issue the certifications. Thus, WINDSPOT small wind turbines will get during this summer a certification for U.S. and UK, the two most important markets in the small wind sector.

Our Windspot, protagonist of Finnish TV news, denounces the unclear laws that are blocking the development of this market.

The small wind turbine market asks for a more specific law in Finland. The unclear laws and the bureaucracy required from some local authorities are discouraging consumers and businesses to invest in small wind power units in several municipalities of Finland.

Finnish TV news has drawn the attention to the battle against bureaucracy some consumers have to face if they want to install a small wind turbine in some municipalities. And the protagonist for this news was a Windspot Small Wind turbine that generates energy for an advertising sign.

The law doesn’t clearly say what kinds of permits are needed for these installations, and depending of the municipality, the requirements have huge differences.

Small Wind Association has denounced the situation, where unclear laws are hindering the development of this market. In Finland there are around 1.100 small wind turbines. Windspot turbines are installed in places like universities and amusement parks around the country.

Finnish SOK market chain is very keen on energy savings in their stores. As their latest hardware store opened on the 1st of March in Nummela, Southern Finland, the company had opted to produce energy themselves. Advertisement lighting is known to use a lot of electricity. As a solution SOK decided to install a 3,5 kW Windspot wind turbine on top of their advertising pylon.

The Windspot turbine will produce enough electricity to light the tower and when the lighting is not used, the wind turbine production will be used in the store.

They are installed in places as diverse as the University, a cogeneration power plant or a funfair.
Finland is a country with a huge potential for wind energy production. It has windy areas, especially along the coast, where conditions are ideal for small wind turbines.

4 Windspot small wind turbines are already producing energy in this Nordic country.
And they have been installed in varied and different places.

One of the small wind turbines have been installed at the University of Tampere. There, a 3.5-kW WINDSPOT allows students to learn at first hand the wind and to experiment with it. This is a project that aims to introduce renewable energy and environmental care as part of everyday life of the students.

To this end the University of Tampere has, in addition to small wind turbines, solar energy and geothermal systems.

Also an electrical cogeneration plant has decided to install one of our small wind turbines. It is a plant which produces electricity and heat for part of the city of Tampere.

Another of our WINDSPOT is located in Särkänniemi funfair, also near Tampere. This entertainment park has decided to improve its energy efficiency. And they have chosen to install a Windspot small wind turbine that now is supplying the funfair with energy. They have also placed lights at the base to illuminate it at night, and an information panel for people to learn more about wind energy.

Thus our WINDSPOT is not only used for the production of clean renewable energy, but also for education and enlightenment of all the people who go to visit this park.

From 9 to 13 October will be held in Amsterdam the INTELEC exhibition dedicated to power supply in communication towers.

Of course our small wind turbines cannot miss this event, because we are a fundamental tool and the solution to supply many of these towers.

WINDSPOT small wind turbines are ideal to provide power to these facilities. Usually located in remote places, isolated and exposed to high winds, communication towers can take advantage of our advanced technology to get energy cheaply and efficiently.

WINDSPOT small wind turbines offer various alternatives for this use. They can work both, on-grid and off-grid, and can be combined with solar panels, batteries or generators.

In this video you will find more information of all our possibilities and advantages in providing energy to telecommunication towers.

We recently installed our first wind turbines of the WINDSPOT 7.5 kW commercial version.

The sites chosen were Spain and France, where our small wind turbine is being tested to ensure high performance.
The 7.5-kw is the older brother of our current wind turbines, although we are working with an even more powerful one, the 15 kW, which is the ambition of all.
For a time the 7.5 kW small wind turbine will be demonstrating its strong capabilities in field tests to begin to be marketed later this year.
Among its features the most important one are its strength, stability and profitability. Investment for installation is, of course, greater than if you install a smaller, but we will get more output, so the cost / kWh is reduced significantly.
Of course our 7.5 kW small wind turbine incorporates our patented variable pitch and is also characterized by its silence.
The estimated annual production of this machine can reach up to 24,200 kwh, which means that we will avoid the emission into the atmosphere of about 15,700 kg. Its removal rate is 3m/sy nominal speed 12 m/s. The rotor diameter is 6.3 m and weight 420 kg. You'll find details of our 7.5 kW small wind turbine here.

One of the actions will focus on assisting international fairs to market our product. A few months ago Tatung and Sonkyo Energy reached an agreement by which the giant corporation will exclusively distribute our small wind turbines in Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.
We have been informed that they will promote WINDSPOT at the following shows, an important promotion with which to continue our international expansion.

Our small wind turbines are silent. We have always said that, and now an international certification done by the Danish company Grontmij confirms it. According to that prestigious consulting our WINDSPOT emits only 37 decibels, the same level of noise we find, for example, in a library.

The 7.5 kW WINDSPOT prototypes have been generating energy in Alicante for some time. But this is the first commercial version of the wind turbine that has been installed. It is located in the town of Castalla, where our dealer ENAIR have a testing ground. Our Winspot 7.5 kW will generate wind power between olive trees in the Spanish Mediterranean area.

Sonkyo Energy´s engineering team has been working hard in the development of this wind turbine for over a year and a half. Until now we have put on the market the 1.5 kW and 3.5 kW wind turbines, but our goal has always been to market mills able to produce more power, like our 7.5 kW and 15kW small wind turbines. The 7.5Kw Windspot is already a reality and at the end of this year it will be available.

Another similar wind turbine, also 7.5 kw, will be installed within the next few days in the French region of Cracassonne. There SEPEN, a French Government agency, will conduct testing and certification on that machine.

SEPEN has already tested with excellent results our smaller turbines and is also responsible for their certifications.

Sonkyo Energy, with the help of the Rose Foundation from the Caja de Ahorros del Mediterráneo, will install a hybrid system for generating wind and solar energy in Turkana, Kenya. Thanks to this action, energy will be made to cover to the community of St. Paul's missionaries, which looks after a population of some 15,000 people - among them 2,500 children less than six years old - who will then be able to have easier access to drinking water and conserve food and medicines.

The Turkana project plans to have two Windspot 3.5 small wind turbines installed by this summer which will produce 7 Kw of electric power and several solar panels to obtain deleted here 10 Kw.

To achieve success, an essential element is the involvement of the missionary community of St. Paul the Apostle, which has been working in the area for more than 20 years with the objective of improving the quality of life for the local population. As the priest at the mission, Alex Campón, explains, "one of the big problems" in keeping all of the development cooperation projects working is a lack of energy. "In remote areas, the only solution is renewable energy" and, in this case, "small wind turbines allows energy distribution to places where providing a supply is unthinkable".

Sonkyo Energy will move a team to Turkana to install a small wind turbine and get the system operational. Moreover, the project includes training a team of people, so that they can take charge of the small wind turbine and the system maintenance. In any case, Sonkyo Energy is committed to providing advice by Internet during the useful life of the facility.

Windspot solves the three problems with other small wind turbines: low productivity, poor reliability and noise. Windspot takes care of them all:

1. Our small wind turbine starts producing energy in very light winds (2.5 metres per second) and continues to work at peak performance even if the winds reach high speeds (over 50 metres per second). Paradoxically, other small wind turbines are forced to turn themselves off or cut back on performance to avoid damage at times when they could produce the most energy.

2. Windspot is also a robust, reliable and durable small wind turbine, with a lifespan of at least 25 years and, unlike its competitors, requires virtually no maintenance. Built with high quality materials, moving parts such as bearings are sealed and maintenance free. The magnet rotor with a high number of poles can produce energy even at very low rpm.

3. A noisy turbine can be unbearable company. At Sonkyo Energy, we have studied the aerodynamics to the point where we have made Windspot one of the quietest turbines on the market. Unlike other small wind turbines, Windspot works at low rpm, producing at its peak with less wear and most importantly, without noise.

Windspot is a small wind turbine from the SPANISH renewable energy company Sonkyo Energy. The most important feature of Windspot is that it is an efficient, durable, reliable, high-performance turbine that comes in three models with powers of 1.5kW, 3.5kW and 7.5kW to adapt to every user need.

Our small wind turbines have many applications for households or light industry, ranging from self-sufficiency, grid connection, water pumping, telecommunications aerials, etc.

Built with quality materials and under strict production control, Windspot small wind turbines are characterized by the patented variable pitch system, which can limit rotor speed in a smooth, proportional way to ensure a constant rotation speed in high winds (over the rated speed of the electrical generator). Therefore, the wind turbine also constantly delivers the electrical power for which it was designed.

The Windspot variable pitch system, unlike other wind turbines, is robust, effective and requires minimal maintenance. It is also silent, due to the painstaking aerodynamic design of its blades and the fact that it operates at low rpm.

The correct placement of a WINDSPOT small wind turbine is as important as the wind available. There are some important considerations that should be taken into account:

The ground: Normally, the highest point has the best winds, although areas around a river, valleys, large hills or mountains and large wooded areas can affect the available wind resource.

Obstructions: Obstructions are considered to be any obstacle that interferes with the direction of the wind, affecting its direction and speed. The most common are houses and trees. Generally it is recommended to install the tower 10 meters higher than the tallest obstacle around and at a distance more than twice the height of the obstacle. For example, if you have a house 5 meters tall and a tree 7 meters tall near where you want to install your WINDSPOT 3,5 small wind turbine, it would be necessary to put it at a height of 17 meters (7 m from the tallest obstacle + 10 m) and 10 meters from the house (5 x 2) and 14 meters from the tree (7 x 2).

Predominant winds: It is important to know from where the strongest and most frequent winds originate in the area where you want to install your WINDSPOT 3.5. To the extent possible, that direction should be free from obstructions. To know this information, it is usual to resort to studies carried out with an anemometer that measure the direction and speed of the wind in a specific time period. This forms what are called "wind roses".

The distinction was awarded in October 2010 and constitutes international recognition of its development of small wind turbines, such as Windspot, the Sonkyo Energy turbine that uses a variable pitch system to adapt to wind speed.

During the first, the design of the management system was studied to confirm that it conformed to ISO 9001:2008 and the scope of certification, and to verify the management elements.

The second phase, conducted last October, checked the implementation of the management system for the design and manufacture of small wind turbines and confirmed its compliance with the certification requirements. At the end of this phase, LRQA recommended issuance of the certificate.

On its own initiative, Sonkyo Energy works with government agencies to have our small wind turbines undergo independent testing in order to certify the actual power curve of the turbines and their reliability.

We know that, despite its small size, Windspot is a great wind turbine, which is why we are working to obtain independent certification to show, using real hands-on data, that Windspot is the ultimate winner because it actually does what others only promise to do.

Sonkyo Energy is also working on the creation of three test fields in Cantabria, in different environments: marine, mountain and urban, where our small wind turbines are tested to determine their reliability and productivity. It is here where we test the innovations of our R&D&i team.

- It is a passive mechanism that uses the centrifugal force produced by the turning of the small wind turbine to change the attack angle of the blades, which adjust themselves in a synchronized movement, cushioned by a hydraulic cylinder, to the strength of the wind.

- Variable pitch provides higher productivity and reliability. Thanks to variable pitch, an excess of revolutions is avoided that would damage the generator and means that Windspot small wind turbine continues working at maximum performance even with high wind speeds.

- To protect themselves from the strongest winds, other turbines activate protection systems that, paradoxically, slow up their production when the conditions to produce energy are at their best.

For this, our small wind turbine generates alternating electricity, at a voltage and frequency that varies depending on the wind. As in the case of remote installations, the function of a controller-charger that converts this energy into direct current is necessary for its accumulation in batteries.

WINDSPOT small wind turbines generate alternating electricity, at a voltage and frequency that varies depending on the wind. With the help of a controller-charger, it converts this energy to direct current, at a voltage determined by the bank of batteries.

In the case that there is an excess of power, the controller diverts the surplus energy to discharge resistors that work as a brake, dissipating the surplus energy as heat.

Once the energy our small wind turbine has generated is stored in the batteries, it is ready for consumption. Now, the inverter will convert it to alternating current.

WINDSPOT small wind turbines generate alternating electricity, at a voltage and frequency that varies depending on the wind. Later, a controller converts this energy to direct current, at a voltage acceptable to the inverter.
-Scale blades profiles studies in wind tunnels.
- Working methodology development to predict prototypes performance in real scale.
-Theorical study of the aerodynamics based in lift principles using 3D simulations of the airflow.
-Noise reduction developing new profiles.
-Location study to improve small wind turbines performances: Towers height, closest obstacle, airflow characteristics (laminar or turbulent), or ground roughness.
